Childcare is a critical issue for many families and has a significant impact on parents' ability to work and participate fully in the community. Michelle is a wife and mom of 3 incredible children, who was inspired to run for office during the 2020 pandemic. She joined the Charleston Area Justice Ministry the same year and attended her first County Council Meeting. Once she got a grasp of how decisions were made in locally elected offices she was determined to be part of making the Charleston area a better place for everyone to live.
She was appointed to Commissioner of Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission in 2021 and then in 2022 she ran for the state house. Despite her loss, she gained a passion for helping other women and minorities run for office and Michelle was elected to become 3rd Vice Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party.
